Dragon Ball Super is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Akira Toriyama. It was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine from June 2015 to August 2018, with the chapters collected into twelve tankōbon volumes. The manga is a sequel to Toriyama’s original Dragon Ball manga and follows the adventures of Goku and his friends after defeating Majin Boo. The manga was adapted into an anime television series that premiered on July 5, 2015, on Fuji TV. The series ended on March 25, 2018, with 131 episodes. A film adaptation titled Dragon Ball Super: Broly was released in Japan on December 14, 2018.
Dragon Ball Super is available online through Viz Media’s digital manga app Weekly Shonen Jump. The manga will be released in English chapters online shortly after they went on sale in Japan, with “Chapter 1” premiering on July 20th. Each chapter is priced at $0.99, which roughly translates to ¥120 per chapter or ¥1,200 for a year’s worth of issues. This is the first time the Dragon Ball manga has ever been translated into English. The manga is not yet available in print in English, but it will be later this year.
I am very excited to read the manga now they are finally releasing it in English. It has been way too long since One Piece began being released online and ever since then I have wanted more manga that I can enjoy without having to wait for weekly updates or buy the monthly volumes. Now with Dragon Ball Super being translated, hopefully, I will be able to enjoy a lot more of the amazing manga that has yet to be translated.
Manga Titles That Need To Be Translated Into English
I find it very strange that not a lot of manga is being released in English, especially when you consider how big some titles are such as One Piece and Attack on Titan. The manga publishing industry in Japan is a very profitable one with a lot of famous titles that could be translated into English and sold to an international audience. I’m going to name some popular manga titles that need to be translated into English so more people can enjoy them.
Shinobi No Kuni
This long-running manga is currently being serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump and will have over 100 volumes when the series finally ends. The manga was made into an anime with plenty of seasons that are available to watch on Crunchyroll. This series is about a girl named Suzume who is transported to another world where she has to pretend to be a boy or else she will be killed. One Piece is a very popular manga that I feel should have been translated into English long ago. The manga has currently been running for over 20 years and will continue to run until Eiichiro Oda dies. Just kidding, the series will never end. The world of One Piece is full of pirates, bounty hunters, kings, and queens. It is a very exciting series with plenty of characters who have great abilities. My favorite character has got to be Trafalgar Law because he is a cool character and I like how his powers work…I think. Attack on Titan was a very popular anime that became even more famous worldwide when it was announced that a live-action version would be going into production. The manga is currently being serialized in both a monthly magazine and a weekly one. Attack on Titan was made into an anime by the same studio that did Death Note, which is another great series, so it must have been good from the start.
