Ranking the Top Female Superheroes

marvel female superheroes

As a child, I remember my first introduction to the Marvel Universe. My mother would take me to the comics section of the local newspaper and entice me into reading what’s new in superhero comics. Needless to say, I became a fan of Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, X-Men, The Avengers, and many other comic book superheroes. Needless to say, I feel it’s my responsibility to remind people that Marvel did create some great female superheroes like Jubilee, Storm, Rogue, Ms. Marvel, Storm, and many others. It was a thrilling time for my love of comics.

Some best Iconic Female Superheroes

Female Superheroes

Recently, there has been an increase in storylines featuring strong, motivated, and powerful women as the protagonist. There have been many successful storylines including She-Hulk, Moon Knight, Bat Girl, and several others that have captivated millions of readers. For those who are unfamiliar with these female superheroes, please allow me to introduce you to some of my all-time favorite superheroes.

Female Superheroes

The first, and most famous, a female superhero I’m going to discuss is Marvel’s classic heroine, She-Hulk. Born in California, She-Hulk possesses incredible strength and abilities and is considered to be one of, if not the, most powerful villains in the Marvel Universe. She possesses powerful gamma rays that give her the ability to turn herself into a gigantic green monster called the Hulk. Also, as part of a plan by Dr. Curt Connor, she has also been given artificial abilities via technology implanted in her forehead.

Jean Grey

Another character I want to introduce to you today is Marvel’s original X-Men character, Jean Grey. As a member of the X-Men, Jean Grey has the power to manipulate cosmic energy. What makes her special, however, is that she has two alternate forms. In the “Xavier” form, she wields a silver and black sword, while in her ” Wolverine” form, she uses an intense amount of telepathy to communicate with other X-Men. She also has powerful telekinesis and telepathic abilities.

A third of the quintet of Marvel female superheroes is the classic Ms. Marvel, also known as Elektra. While she does not have as many superpowers as some of the others, she does have a few unique ones. She is an experienced martial artist who uses a spiked chain, and she is also capable of kicking considerable amounts of rock and metal.

Thor (Jane Foster)

The most recent member of this team is undoubtedly the formidable and deadly Thor. Since making her first appearance in the late sixties, Thor has been a favorite among many readers. While she retains her human identity, she has also gained the skills and strength of an alien. She possesses an enormous hammer that she uses to smash enemy ships, as well as energy blasts that knockdown enemies. Although she is a female, one can also argue that Thor is a member of the Thor family, since she bears a resemblance to the hammer of the god of the sky himself.

All of these female superheroes share a common thread, however. They have all earned the right to be called “powered” by special weapons or powers. Their uniqueness helps them to overcome their enemies and win the fight! So, who are you going to vote for as the next female superhero to join the Marvel Universe? Which female superhero movie character are you most excited about, and what kind of abilities do you think they possess?
